ADVERTORIAL
The Early Stages Of A 10 Year Tellurium Mega Trend
If You’ve Never Heard Of Tellurium… This Off-Radar Mineral Is 8X Less Abundant Than Gold, Rarer Than All Rare Earths, and As Critical To EV and Solar Batteries As Lithium
- For decades, a rare earth stranglehold has crippled North America’s efforts to take a leading role in the green energy revolution. That may not be the case for much longer.
- A major discovery out of Texas is replacing decades-old lithium-ion batteries with ones that are 5X more powerful, and last 5X longer.
- As a result, a brand-new mining sector has birthed a stunning opportunity, and one company at the center of it has seen its shares rise more than 100% in just 2 months.
This could be the beginning of a massive field day, as history is made in the American West.
A small minerals exploration outfit is developing a project that could soon yield one of the world’s rarest, and suddenly most important minerals.
That rare mineral is tellurium.
It is a hard-working mineral that’s essential in making the thin-film photovoltaic cells for solar panels.
But today, tellurium is also at the heart of a breakthrough that could fuel one of mankind’s most sensational advances in battery technologies – known as Lithium-sulfur.
That’s why investors need to make a deep dive in a hurry into this junior explorer company.
This company’s property, known as the Klondike, has a story behind it that should quicken the heartbeats of even the most veteran natural resource investor.
That’s because this company’s property was formerly owned and explored by one of the world’s largest solar panel makers.
That solar company bought the Klondike for one reason alone – to build an open pit mine as a private, steady, and exclusive source of the tellurium that’s vital to its solar panel manufacturing.
Then all hell broke loose with its shareholders.
Ultimately, they surrendered the property after a threatened shareholder revolt because its open pit mining program was the opposite of the company’s earth-friendly, green-industry brand.
To resolve the dispute, they sold the Klondike property to members of its executive mining team, headed by the company’s acting North American Exploration Manager, John Keller.
The mining team then sold the property to the junior explorer company we are discussing.
And, in a calculating move, this company’s kept Keller on as the Klondike Property’s general manager.
America’s First Dedicated Tellurium Mine
Now, here’s the real kicker.
Not only does this company look to be sitting on what could be a bonanza-grade property.
Its Klondike project would be the very first dedicated tellurium mine in the U.S… and the second in production world-over.[1]
A rather surprising fact for a mineral that’s so vital to the world’s energy needs. But, there’s a good reason for the lack of tellurium mines across the globe.
A by-product of copper and gold refining, tellurium supply has long been adequate to meet the minor demand of about 490- to 500-metric tons a year.
That was the case, until the solar sector started showing signs of a massive expansion.
At the same time, a major technological breakthrough revealed tellurium’s hidden ability to supercharge lithium batteries.
Here’s the whole story.
An Ace Up First Tellurium’s Sleeve
Initial exploration of its Colorado tellurium property suggests that the Klondike property also holds as much as 1.2 ounces of gold per ton (33 g/t) of rock and earth. Those are significant grades, especially for a company that’s just beginning exploration.
And with the famous Cripple Creek project just 68 miles to the northeast, the likelihood of a massive discovery has real potential.
Mind you, the price of gold is currently cemented in the $1,700 an ounce range, while the price to extract an ounce from the ground remains firm at about $800 per ounce, leaving a lot of room for profits.
Not to get too far ahead of this company’s potential, but over the decades, Cripple Creek has produced more than 23 million ounces.
In 2019 alone Cripple Creek produced 322,000 troy ounces of gold worth more than $523 million,[2] with proven and probable reserves reported to be 3.45 million troy ounces.[3]
Just something to consider: With tellurium as the target, gold is a heck of a byproduct.
Clean Energy Goals Multiply The Potential
The looming demand for tellurium is based on the world’s desire to mitigate or reverse environmental damage.
Hungry investors stay in the world of money and wealth during business hours, and the numbers favor ESG investors.
A 2020 Pew Research poll found that 52% of Americans “saw climate change as a top priority.[4] That number rocketed to 64% in 2021.[5]
And there are two industries that are at the heart of lowering the carbon footprint – solar energy and electric vehicles.
Solar, of course, has long been tellurium’s sweet spot, but it could be on the verge of being the EV industry’s best friend.
That’s because a team of researchers from the University of Texas may have unlocked the long-held promise of lithium sulfur batteries.
In its current iterations, lithium sulfur batteries can store as much as five times the energy of a lithium-ion battery.
And when powering an electric vehicle, a lithium sulfur battery that could drive a car from Boston to Richmond, VA, about 550 miles, on a single charge.
Moreover, unlike lithium-ion batteries that are made using toxic and exotic materials such as cobalt, nickel and manganese, lithium-sulfur batteries use cheaper, more abundant materials – lithium and sulfur.
But there’s a hitch.
The Tellurium Solution Out Of Texas
Current lithium-sulfur batteries cannot be recharged enough times for EVs before they degrade. So, they’re not commercially viable.
The problem is with the internal chemistry. Charging a Li-S battery causes a build-up of chemical deposits that shorten its lifespan
Enter professor Arumugam Manthiram, from the University of Texas.
He coated the lithium with tellurium, and the results were astounding.
Manthiram was able to increase the lifespan of Li-S batteries by five times.
For the science-oriented readers, here’s how Professor Manthiram described the process.
“Tellurium sits two positions below sulfur in the periodic table. Hence, its chemistry shares many similarities with sulfur, and it can be easily incorporated into sulfur compounds,” Manthiram said.
“At the same time, tellurium is more metallic than sulfur, and it shares many properties with the metalloid class of elements. For these reasons, we anticipated tellurium having a very interesting role to play in Li-S batteries and possibly forming a more desirable SEI layer on the lithium surface.”
The Secret To 5X The Power And Range For EVs
In layman’s terms, tellurium stopped the degradation process.
In other words, we could be a year or so from EVs with five times the energy as today’s… enough power to make the 10-hour drive from Kanas City to Chattanooga on a single charge.
But there’s more… This is breakthrough with massive scope, that could have a lasting impact on many markets. Imagine if a tablet or smartphone could also stay charged five times longer.
It could with a Li-S battery, thanks to tellurium.
And as Pew Research reported, “Smartphone ownership is growing rapidly around the world.”
In fact, mobile phone ownership just surpassed 7 billion, 6.3 billion of those are smartphones, and the forecast is for explosive growth over the next five years.[6]
The world also still needs massive amounts of lithium-based batteries for laptops, hearing aids, pacemakers, emergency lighting, energy storage and many other areas.
Li-S batteries, stabilized by tellurium could be ubiquitous in the blink of an eye.
5 Reasons To Get Into This Junior Explorer Company Before The Looming Demand Spike Makes Headlines
- A PRIVATE, EXCLUSIVE DEAL PART I–With its voracious appetite for tellurium now public, it’s hard not to imagine that solar developers could seek an exclusive deal with this company.
- COME FOR THE TELLURIUM – Klondike is said to have tested at a fantastic 3% tellurium content, way more the usual 3 parts per billion. A noted geologist reported to the government that along with 93,000 tons of tellurium, there could be as much as 100,000 ounces of gold on this company’s Deer Horn property.
- STAY FOR THE GOLD – While tellurium is the target of opportunity, this company could also be sitting on a fortune in gold. Early reports on this company’s Klondike property suggest that it could be rich with high-grade gold… as much as 1.2 ounces per ton. That’s a hell of a bonus
- BIG BATTERY BREAKTHROUGH – Tellurium is at the heart of a new form of lithium battery that stores as much as five times the energy of lithium-ion batteries. Considering that lithium-ion pretty much powers the modern world, there would seem to be an unlimited market for a lighter, smaller, more powerful battery.
- IT COMES DOWN TO LEVERAGE – Word of this company’s massive potential could be due to get out soon. News of a more efficient, stronger, longer-lasting battery won’t stay quiet for long.
With the hunt for new sources of tellurium now part of a worldwide crisis, you could expect this company to stay in the news for years to come.
